4. Andrew Norwell, G

Former team: Carolina Panthers

A sneak big name free agent that will be highly coveted will be Carolina Panthers’ Andrew Norwell. He would fit really well in Houston.

After going undrafted out of Ohio State, Norwell found a home in Carolina. The past two plus seasons he has started for the Panthers, one of the NFL’s top rushing attacks. Norwell earned first team All Pro honors this past season. It would be a surprise if Carolina can retain him while also paying guard Trai Turner a big contract. Will they invest big money into both guard spots, especially after finding Norwell as an undrafted free agent?

The aforementioned Xavier Su’a-Filo will likely start at one guard position if he is retained. Norwell would slot in at the other guard position and bolster the middle of the line. Pairing Su’a-Filo and Norwell with young center and former second round pick Nick Martin would aid Deshaun Watson and stabilize the running game.

Like Solder, Norwell will likely have a bunch of bidders. Few may have the money that Houston does to offer him. Last year we saw the Cleveland Browns sign the biggest name free agent guard Kevin Zeiter to the biggest contract for a guard. It will be interesting to see if Norwell will get similar money.

Clearly Houston needs to address their offensive front. Either Norwell or Solder would do that for them. If they were able to grab both, at the right price, it would be a home run for this offseason and especially Deshaun Watson.
