NBA Power Rankings: Here comes the trade deadline

Golden State had a tough week, looking mentally worn out as they ride out the first half of the season. They dropped their first game of the week, losing 129-99 on the road to the Utah Jazz. The Jazz really just dominated the Warriors, punching back twice as hard whenever Golden State would try to mount a comeback. The Warriors rallied in the fourth quarter against the Kings, shaking off a sluggish start to pull out a 119-104 victory on the first night of a back-to-back. Kevin Durant, Steph Curry, and Draymond Green combined for 16 turnovers, perhaps showing some of the mental fautigue that builds up over the course of an 82-game season. “It’s a lot of stuff that we can correct,” Durant said. “Stick to our fundamentals and we’ll cut those turnovers down. But for the most part I like where our defense was.”

Golden State wasn’t able to beat the Nuggets on Saturday, unable to stop Denver when they needed to late. They blew a lead in the fourth quarter, and then Nick Young missed a 3-pointer and was called for a technical for complaining about not getting a whistle. The good news? They get to host the Thunder on Tuesday on TNT – now that should be an exciting game to watch.
