NBA Power Rankings: Here comes the trade deadline
By Daniel Lewis
The Mavericks’ losing streak stretched into this week, with the team dropping their first matchup this week against the Miami Heat, 95-88. They went on the road for their next game, and fell to the Phoenix Suns, 102-88, in a game where the Suns shook off a horrific leg injury to Isaiah Canaan. Dallas was able to finish the week off with a win, just their second in their last ten games, with a nice finish against the Sacramento Kings for a 106-99 win.
The Kings looked like a team that was on the second night of a back-to-back after having returned home from a six-game road trip, and the Mavericks took advantage of weary legs for a 16-0 run to start the fourth quarter and take a lead they wouldn’t relinquish the remainder of the game. Harrison Barnes scored a game-high 18 points, and all the Mavericks starters finished with double-digit points to help the team pick up their seventeenth win on the season.
