Jason Spezza. 22. player. 119. . C. Dallas Stars

I’m assuming everyone reading this has played the EA Sports NHL series. If you haven’t, you at least know about the series. For those who are lost, it’s a video game series.

I used to play the series daily in college. To get to the point before I make a longer point, Jason Spezza ended up on my team. And no matter what, I could count on him to score in every game. If I was down 3-2 in the third period, as long as Spezza had not scored already, I wasn’t worried. I knew a Spezza goal was coming. And more often than not, that goal happened. Spezza was a monster in video game hockey, the same way he was a monster in real life hockey.

I was in college 10 years ago.

In 2017-18, Spezza is a far cry from the player he was 10 years ago. People get old. Even hockey players. Except Jaromir Jagr. He’s ageless. Spezza is 34-years-old and is slowing down the once high-powered Dallas offense. And unless the Dallas Stars can find college me and convince me that Spezza is the same player the guaranteed I would not get shutout, they’re unlikely to find a suitor for Spezza.

Pick up some gear from Dallas great Mike Modano from Fanatics.

He has one year left on his $7.5 million contract, which includes a no-movement clause. Unless the Stars attach a draft pick, it’s doubtful that Spezza is moved. But Dallas really needs to move him if they want to regain their offensive form.
