One player on each NHL team that should be traded
I have a new proposal for the Los Angeles Kings. Instead of searching for that elusive scoring that they can never seem to find, they should trade away their scoring and go full-on defense. They sort of tried this last year when they traded Ben Bishop despite having Jonathan Quick.
I admire this strategy. Having two elite goaltenders doesn’t make a whole lot of sense because you can only play one at a time. But if the NHL were to change the rule and allow two goalies, the Kings would have been unstoppable.
They should try it again this year.
This whole “we need scoring” thing isn’t working. It will never work. The Kings could acquire Sidney Crosby, Alex Ovechkin, and Steven Stamkos and still score less than three goals per game.
After a couple of down years, Gaborik has looked good in limited action this season. His contract isn’t great, but it’s not as bad as some other players I’ve mentioned in this post. You’re sensing a theme in these slides, right?

I don’t care what the Kings get for Gaborik as long as it’s a defenseman. Maybe two defenseman. Maybe a defenseman and a goalie. I’d even settle for a couple of third line checking forwards. Anything but all offense.
I’m counting on you, Los Angeles. Bring back the days of the New Jersey Devils trap. Don’t try to keep up with other teams in the league. Slow them down. You can do this, Los Angeles.
