91. . LW/C. Ottawa Senators. Mike Hoffman. 11. player

Or Matt Duchene. I want the Senators to test the Duchene theory. Trade him to a fringe playoff team, let’s say, the Minnesota Wild. I chose the Minnesota Wild because it would tear the Avalanche fanbase apart more than Patrick Roy’s departure.

I should note that I am an Avalanche fan. The most self-loathing Avalanche fan you’ll ever meet.

Anyway, I want the Senators to trade Duchene to see what happens. Will the Senators suddenly get better? Will (insert fringe playoff team here) miss out on the playoffs despite acquiring what should be a top-6 forward? These are the things that I want to know. This is why the Senators should trade Matt Duchene.

But they’ll likely end up trading Mike Hoffman for some reason. Even though Hoffman is on a good contract and he’s been their second best forward for the last three years, they’re going to trade him.

Hoffman has a modified no-trade clause, but that should not limit the Senators options too much. I would imagine that Hoffman wants out of Ottawa with the way the team is going right now. He probably wishes he was part of the Duchene trade and was playing alongside Nathan MacKinnon right now.

Stay nice and toasty with this Senators hooded sweatshirt.

The Senators should be able to get a nice haul for Hoffman. Aside from Max Pacioretty and Oliver Ekman-Larsson, Hoffman is the most desirable asset on the market. He’s better than Evander Kane and you’re less likely to find him at the club at 3 a.m. the morning of a game.

Someone, anyone, please rescue Mike Hoffman. Not you, Arizona.
