D. Chicago Blackhawks. Patrick Sharp. 25. player. 94.

Does Patrick Sharp have any value at this point? Yes. Someone will believe that Sharp is still a useful player and they’ll take a chance on him heading into the playoffs. He’s a low-risk option who will cost next to nothing on the trade market.

I feel bad for the general manager, but I completely understand why a general manager would do it.

Sharp is in the twilight of his career and probably won’t hit 15 goals this season, but maybe, and hear me out here. Maybe, the Blackhawks are just bad this season?

Maybe, and I know this is crazy, but maybe Sharp can still be a solid offensive addition to a team that is scoring challenged. Maybe, he’s experiencing a down year because everyone the the Blackhawks is experiencing a down year. Brent Seabrook is turning into a healthy scratch and some are calling for Joel Quinneville to be fired. If that doesn’t tell you how bad things are in Chicago, I don’t know what will.

There’s nothing wrong with taking a flier on Sharp. The puck isn’t going in for him, but he can still get his shot off. He’s nearly useless in his own end, but can be an effective offensive player.

Gear up for St. Patrick’s Day with the help of Fanatics.

The Blackhawks would be wise to get anything they can for him at the deadline. It won’t be much, but I promise that the Los Angeles Kings will give them something in hopes that he solves their scoring woes. He won’t. But this is what the Kings do every year.
