Round 4 – Pick 123

Davin Bellamy, LB, Georgia

Buffalo traded away Reggie Ragland this season to the Kansas City Chiefs. The former second round pick never actually played for Buffalo. What he did leave was a hole at linebacker for this team.

In round four, expectations need to be tamed, but a player like Georgia’s Davin Bellamy could be a steal for this Buffalo team. He would not fill in exactly for Ragland, but the exceptional athlete has experience playing in Georgia’s multiple front which make him a solid choice for the Bills.

Overshadowed by teammate Roquan Smith, Bellamy is the type of athlete the Bills should look for at linebacker. He has the rare blend of size, power and speed that allow him to play all over the defense. Bellamy has experience rushing the passer and kicking into coverage.

Watching Georgia games it is easy to see why that defense is constantly making plays. The linebackers may have been the countries best. Buffalo could use an injection of athleticism at the position to help sure up their run defense. Payne earlier and Bellamy in the fourth will immediately upgrade the middle of the defense.

Most see Bellamy as an edge at the next level. At the Senior Bowl he was mixed in with both the linebackers and edge rushers. He is the rare athlete that may excel in any role a coach throws him into. With Buffalo’s multiple fronts, he would be a situational pass rusher who could grow into much more. Joining Preston Brown and surprise rookie Matt Milano, Bellamy may get more action than that simply due to need.
