2018 NBA Mock Draft: Mohamed Bamba could be the Suns’ last building block
There are understandably concerns for any team bringing in Walker that his gunner mentality could be difficult to reel in, but Chicago makes sense as a team to overcome those obstacles.
Bulls coach Fred Hoiberg runs a system that counts on everyone to get involved and find openings in the defense to pass and shoot. He has given young players like Kris Dunn, Lauri Markkanen and Justin Holiday opportunities to showcase their offensive skills this year with high-usage players gone from the roster. Walker can do all of the things Hoiberg asks of his guards, with the added upside of being able to shoulder a heavier burden in certain situations.
Hurricanes coach Jim Larranaga speaks openly about his work with Walker, and I could see the same progress coming with Hoiberg.
Chicago fetched scorer Zach LaVine in their June trade of Jimmy Butler, but they are by no means attached to him. In the midst of a rebuild, Walker is the kind of player Chicago can afford to take a chance on.
