2018 NBA Mock Draft: Mohamed Bamba could be the Suns’ last building block
Atlanta is shooting nearly four more 3s per game this year compared to last, and if coach Mike Budenholzer really wants to go all-in on spacing, Tillie is one of the best prospects available at this spot.
Maybe he couldn’t play the stretch five, a position at which Budenholzer has played guys like John Collins and Tyler Cavanaugh this season despite their size. But he projects to bring a whole lot of versatility relative to those other players.
Tillie has handled an uptick in volume well this year for the Bulldogs, efficiently running countless pick-and-pops per game after being used as a floor-spacing reserve during last season’s Final Four run. He has good touch for a big man.
Defensively, Tillie is a surprise. His advanced metrics are dazzling, mostly due to Gonzaga’s solid team defense. Individually, Tillie also looks much better. He has doubled his block rate, fouls much less and moves his feet very well for someone his size and with such a relatively inflexible offensive role.
