The Timberwolves are one team that should be looking for immediate contributors in the draft, and Thomas strikes me as a great right-now option.

Thomas is a perfect young role player. He shoots 40 percent from distance, plays awesome on-ball defense and has a NBA-ready body. He looks quick and strong enough to instantly compete with NBA competition, and play the brand of basketball Minnesota coach Tom Thibodeau has built a career playing.

Remember when Thibodeau used to start Keith Bogans opposite star Derrick Rose? Thomas is a similar player, and could earn a similar place in the hearts of the Wolves’ staff.

The team desperately needs rotation helpers after watching expensive players like Shabazz Muhammad and Cole Aldrich flame out. Thomas will need development time as a play-maker, but he could be great as a 3-and-D player right away.
