The wide receiver position is the one group Jacksonville will have to pay the most attention to this offseason in free agency. Odds are that Blake Bortles does stick with the team for at least one more season. He has that fifty-year option and did lead them to two wins in the AFC playoffs. This may not be the ideal time for the Jaguars to enter the quarterback market. 2018 will tell us a lot more about that.

The first 2017 Jaguars wide receiver we’ll talk about his is four-year veteran Marqise Lee. Lee has just completed his four-year rookie deal worth $5,174,022. Drafted with high expectations coming out of USC in 2014 as a second-round pick, Lee looked like a bust his first two years in the league.

However, he has played well with Bortles under the watch of offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett the last two seasons. Lee enters free agency with 171 career receptions for 2,166 receiving yards and eight touchdowns. The bulk of his production has obviously come in the last two years with the Jaguars.

Though there have been other receivers that have stood out in Jacksonville, continuity is key with this team. His rapport with Bortles should be noted. Let’s not forget that there are bigger fish to fry in wide receiver free agency than Lee. He’s a good player, but shouldn’t be paid like a great one. Look for him to get a slightly bigger pay day than expected so he remains in Jacksonville for 2018 and beyond.
