2018 NFL Draft: Miami Dolphins 7-round mock
By Joe Romano
Round 3 – Pick 73
Frank Ragnow, G/C, Arkansas
As discussed earlier, interior offensive line has been an issue in Miami the past few years. The team tried to address it with fifth round pick Isaac Asiata out of Utah. This year they get a much more talented player in the third round in Arkansas’ Frank Ragnow.
An ankle injury derailed Ragnow’s 2017 season. Even after missing half of his team’s games he earned All-Conference in the SEC. He is a durable and versatile offensive lineman who should start immediately upon stepping into an NFL locker room. The durability concerns due to his ankle injury should not be an issue. At Arkansas Ragnow started 33 consecutive games at either center or guard.
Ragnow would give the Dolphins a starting caliber guard to plug next to Mike Pouncey and Laremy Tunsil. He also adds the ability to be insurance for the oft-injured Pouncey with his ability to play center. Grabbing a versatile interior lineman would provide a future starter at center too with Pouncey being 29 when next season starts.
Miami and coach Adam Gase rely on running the ball, and that should increase as quarterback Ryan Tannehill returns to form. Ragnow would provide them a plug-and-play starter to help budding star Kenyan Drake get going. With Tannehill back in the mix, Drake’s emergence and solidifying the offensive line, Miami’s offense should take a massive step forward next season.
