Real Madrid’s La Liga title hopes were crushed weeks ago, and they now sit 19 points behind Barcelona. Zinédine Zidane’s side are fourth in La Liga, one point behind third-place Valencia but only two points ahead of fifth-place Villarreal, in the fight for the final Champions League spot. Real Sociedad are comfortably in the middle of the table, nine points clear of the relegation zone.

Madrid dropped points for the fourth time in the last six games after drawing 2-2 with Levante. Cristiano Ronaldo was visibly upset when he was subbed off following Madrid go-ahead goal in the 82nd minute. Levante scored the equalizer in the 89th minute, furthering Ronaldo’s anger. Zidane’s squad have picked up only eight points in their last six games. While Ronaldo leads the club with eight goals, he has lost half a step this season and has been unhappy with the club.

Real Sociedad crushed Deportivo de La Coruña 5-0 last weekend, snapping a four-game losing streak. The White and Blues have lost six of their previous nine games, falling from seventh to 14th. Willian José scored against Deportivo and leads Sociedad with 11 goals this season. While Sociedad have scored 41 goals this season, the fourth most in La Liga, they leave themselves vulnerable defensive. Only three clubs have allowed more goals than Sociedad, who have allowed 40 in the first 22 games.
