Aside from wide receiver, the tight end position for Baltimore could stand to see some of the biggest changes going into the 2018 season. 37-year-old and free-agent-to-be Ben Watson led all Ravens tight ends in receptions and yards, so it’s safe to say that the club could use a bit more youth at the position.

The Ravens are already rumored to be interested in Seahawks’ tight end Jimmy Graham, but adding to the position via the draft is also a strong possibility. If the Ravens do secure a playmaking threat like Graham in free agency, Wisconsin tight end Troy Fumagalli would make for a nice complement.

Fumagalli is unique for a tight end in many ways, perhaps most notably for being one of the best pass-catchers in the Big Ten despite playing without the index finger on his left hand.

At 6-foot-6, 248 pounds, Fumagalli is a well-balanced combination tight end who possesses value both in the passing game and as an in-line blocker. He won’t blow anybody off the ball with power and is average as an athlete, but Fumagalli is a smart player who understands blocking schemes and can find holes in zone coverage as a receiver.

The Wisconsin program is consistently one of the best rushing attacks in all of college football, and a big part of that is the ability their tight ends show to understand blocking schemes. Fumagalli would represent a solid addition to the Baltimore offense if paired with Graham or another one of the draft’s pass-catching tight ends in an earlier round.
