Mike Green, D, Detroit Red Wings

Mike Green was elected to the NHL all-star game this year, on an underperforming Detroit Red Wings team Mike Green has stood out. Green is consistently a thirty point defenseman in the league and has grown well defensively. He is a pending unrestricted free agent, with the Red Wings not in the playoff conversation they may look to dump him for future assets.

Any team serious about making a run for the playoffs would love to add him to their line up. Green is not a top pairing defenseman but when he is slotted in the bottom four he can thrive and provide a boost on the powerplay.

The best fit for Mike Green might be where he got started. Sending Green back to the Capitals will be enough to put them over the top and they can finally make it to the cup finals. The Capitals tried a rental defenseman last season when they brought in Kevin Shattenkirk but it did not work out well.

The Capitals may be hesitant to pay for another top end rental but Mike Green is a known asset to the Caps. During his time in Washington Green and Alex Ovechkin built up a great chemistry on the ice which led to a lot of goals. The idea of the Capitals reigniting that chemistry will get all fans of Washington excited.
