Petr Mrazek, G, Detroit Red Wings

The Red Wings are in an interesting goaltending situation, Jimmy Howard and Petr Mrazek have both been playing well this season. Howard currently has a big contract that would be hard to trade. Mrazek is a pending restricted free agent who will get paid well this summer. The Red Wings will not want to tie up too much money in goaltenders as they try to fill up their roster. Detroit might prefer to move Howard but because his contract is so large it may be difficult. Mrazek is more flexible to trade and teams will like his restricted free agent status.

Next: One player on every team that should be traded

A team like Carolina will be calling for Mrazek. The Hurricanes are playing well this year but have struggled in net. When the Hurricanes signed Scott Darling this season their problems in net were supposed to be solved. Darling has struggled and not played up to his contract. Meanwhile, Cam Ward is turning in a decent season but is not the long-term answer.

The Hurricanes can pick up Mrazek and try him out for the stretch run. If he works out they can resign him, if he struggles they can move on because Darling and Ward are still under contract. If Carolina is serious about a playoff push adding a goalie at the deadline will go a long way.
