1. Cornerback

Overall, the Dolphins’ biggest need this offseason has to be at cornerback. It has to get better for them. While Cordrea Tankersley has shown promise coming out of Clemson as a rookie in 2017, he was only a third-round pick. Miami could very well look to be in the market to draft a cornerback with its No. 11 overall selection.

This does look to be a deep cornerback class, as the Dolphins could land Denzel Ward out of Ohio State, Joshua Jackson out of Iowa or any other number of cornerbacks sure to go in the first round. Miami might even be able to move back from No. 11 to still get their cornerback if a quarterback desperate team wants to swap picks with the Dolphins.

Veteran Alterraun Verner is a free agent, and looks to be past his prime as a player. The Dolphins need to get more dynamic in the back-end of their defense. If they can get to anything close to what the secondary looked like when Dave Wannstedt was running the show, Miami could be one of the better teams in the AFC. However, it’s just Reshad Jones and a bunch of guys entering 2018.

This could be an offseason where the Dolphins look to upgrade at cornerback both in the draft and in free agency. Could Trumaine Johnson finally leave the Los Angeles Rams after being franchise tagged twice? Maybe Richard Sherman looks good in teal and orange after spending years with the Seattle Seahawks? One way or another, the Dolphins have to address cornerback this offseason bar none.
