Heading into the 2017 NFL season, many believed that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers would be a playoff team. They were coming off a season that saw them look like a playoff contender at times, and quarterback Jameis Winston continued to take steps in the right direction. However, the 2017 campaign was a dumpster fire, and injuries and inconsistent play really took a toll on Winston’s development.

Fast forward to the 2018 NFL Draft, and this team needs a lot of help with the roster. The secondary has some glaring holes, and they could use a player like Derwin James to help bolster the unit. James played not only safety in college, but also at cornerback, and left Florida State as the all-time leader in return yards during his time on campus.

Tampa Bay does have some solid talent on the roster, but the NFC South is a beast at this point. In fact, the Bucs were the only team in the division not to make the playoffs in 2017, which says a lot about where the franchise is right now. Winston has the talent to pull them out of the cellar in the division, but the team needs to get better in a lot of spots if they hope to be a playoff team in 2018.
