Round 5 – Pick 140

DaeSean Hamilton, WR, Penn State

If James Washington was the winner of the wide recivers at the Senior Bowl, DaeSean Hamilton was a close second. Coming into the game, the story with Hamilton was he was good not great at most aspects of the position. After a week in Mobile the story changed.

He was seemingly open every time the quarterback looked his way. Aside from Calvin Ridley, Hamilton may be the best route runner in the draft. He will need a strong combine to move up draft boards because there is concern about his long speed. At worst he is a chain moving, dynamic route runner. With a young quarterback, that could be exactly what this team needs.

Round 5 – Pick 161

B.J. Hill, DT, N.C. State

Cleveland found one strong defensive tackle last year in Larry Ogunjobi. To add to the defensive front that is becoming a stregnth they could grab an underrated player like B.J. Hill out of North Carolina State.

Througout the season Hill was out-shined by teammate Bradley Chubb. However the entire Wolfpack defensive line was dominant. Hill was able to prove at the Senior Bowl that he has the tool to succeed at the next level. He is strong at the point of attack and would thrive in a one gap system. Partnering with Ogubjobi and coming off the field in pass situations is an ideal scenario for Hill.

Round 6 – Pick 178

Chris Herndon, TE, Miami

Chris Herndon of Miami is a player that I expect to shoot up draft boards if he can participate in the combine. He would join former Miami teammate David Njoku as the team’s tight end options. The two made a dynamic duo for the Hurricanes in 2016. A season later, with Njoku gone, Herndon was thriving as a move tight end who did it all for the Canes. Unfortunately he was lost to an injury late in the season and it has hurt his draft stock. When healthy Herndon is a fantastic athlete that can line up all over the formation as a weapon. He would give whoever is the quarterback another weapon on the outside.

Round 7 – Pick 219

Austin Corbett, T, Nevada

Cleveland finally finds a tackle worth selecting when they are drafting with Nevada’s Austin Corbett. He would join former teammate Joel Bitonio on the Browns offensive line. Conerns with his length may push him inside at the NFL. However, he has great feet which could keep him at tackle. The Browns likely will not see him fall this far, but if he is there he would represent great value in the seventh round. Corbett needs work, especially on his core strength and ability to strike at the point of attack.
