Oakland Raiders free agency 2018: Top 5 targets
1. Trumaine Johnson
David Amerson has been released and Sean Smith could be next. Oakland did use their first round pick on Gareon Conley last year and will need him to step up in a big way in his second season. But Conley spent the majority of his rookie season on injured reserve.
So while highly-talented, he remains an unknown at the NFL level. Guenther comes over from the Bengals, a team that has always put a major premium on the cornerback position, especially cornerbacks with good size. TJ Carrie was Oakland’s slot corner in 2017, but his contract is expiring. Only Reggie Nelson played more snaps than Carrie on Oakland’s defense last year.

This position is really in tatters besides Conley. Johnson fits the bill as a huge cornerback that isn’t afraid to tackle and play both man and zone coverage. He won’t come cheap at all and could end up being out of Oakland’s price range, but Johnson should be a highly attractive free agent to Reggie McKenzie.
