2018 NBA Mock Draft: Trae Young could reset the Kings backcourt
One of the more remarkable aspects of Spurs coach Gregg Popovich’s job this season has been the way he has morphed San Antonio into a more modern unit.
Recently, he has been starting the stretchy Davis Bertans as the other big man opposite LaMarcus Aldridge. He opens up the offense much more than their starter from last year Pau Gasol. Popovich recently made the switch from Tony Parker to Dejounte Murray in the starting lineup, unleashing the long-limbed madness with which Murray plays.
Impressively, guys like Kyle Anderson and Bryn Forbes have had resurgent seasons with the Spurs this year. Danny Green has been up to his usual tricks. Gasol is a contributor off the bench.
There is room for everyone to grow and the team will shift accordingly. That patience makes you optimistic that a positionless wonder like Milton could be productive in San Antonio. We know he can pass and shoot, plus he has the length to be a difference-making defender.
Hardly anyone can bring the other stuff out better than Popovich and the Spurs.
