5. 20 Points and 20 assists in an NBA playoff game

Basketball is a game of many plays. So you can’t think of a singular play or possession that is as special as a quadruple lutz. To pull off the move, you need a rare combination of skill and intelligence. Putting up 20 points and 20 assists in an NBA game is very hard to do. Doing it in a playoff game is even more difficult, as it’s only been done by four players.

It should come as no surprise Magic Johnson has done it twice. His combination of shooting and passing was, and still is, generational. What’s surprising is Magic has the two lowest point totals in such games, with 22 and 21.

John Stockton was never known for his scoring. He’s best known as the NBA’s career assists leader. But in 1988, Stockton had two 20-20 games in the same playoff series. Though both games wound up being losses against the Los Angeles Lakers, it’s incredible he was able to do such a rare feat twice against such a great team.

Tim Hardway was the best point guard in Golden State Warriors history before Steph Curry came along. In 1991, he put up 20 points and 20 assists against the Lakers. Of the six times a 20-20 has happened in the postseason, the Lakers have been the opponent on three occasions.

The only other player to do it? San Antonio Spurs guard Johnny Moore against the Denver Nuggets.
