player. 10. . AFC. South. Houston Texans. 2

One team that absolutely has to be in the running for Johnson has to be the Houston Texans. Houston had a ton of problems last year in the injury-riddled 2017 campaign. Any way you slice it, 4-12 was a no good, very bad time, but hey, Deshaun Watson is the answer when healthy at quarterback.

Houston did not appropriately replace A.J. Bouye in-house at cornerback last year. He would go on to star for the division rival Jacksonville Jaguars. Kevin Johnson was not ready to step up big time in 2017. Plus, Jonathan Joseph is getting old and will be hitting free agency this spring. It might be time for the Texans to pony up some cash in free agency and get a good cornerback. But do they have the resources?

Houston does, as the Texans will have $58,046,460 in available cap space. That puts the Texans sixth in overall available space. Add in that the Texans won’t have a first-round pick this spring due to trading up to draft Watson out of Clemson No. 12 overall last year and you better believe that the Texans will surely prioritize free agency.

Let’s not forget that Houston stands to be a team capable of going worst to first in 2018. They have a great defensive staff and there is no state income tax in Texas. If Johnson does leave the Rams in his free agency, seeing him sign with a team like the Texans could totally be in play.
