Everything wrong with the initial March Madness rankings
Our March Madness No. 4 seeds includes two Kansas rivals
No. 4 Seeds:
(4) Kansas – Big 12
(4) Arizona – Pac 12
(4) Wichita State – AAC
(4) Nevada – Mountain West
The recent struggles of Kansas move the Jayhawks down to the four slot, for now, but as long as they are not matched up against a Missouri Valley Conference opponent, it doesn’t make a difference who’s across from them on the line come tournament time.
Arizona came out sluggish out of the gate, but their recent surge to close out the Non-Conference slate and elite play within conference season has them currently in the top four. Deandre Ayton is taking his game to the next level, where he is the sleeper for the top pick in the upcoming NBA draft — you heard it here first. Arizona a darkhorse final four team and if your favorite school is lined up with the Wildcats in the March Madness bracket, be afraid. Be very, very afraid.
Wichita State is a team, who also struggled to begin their campaign — with Markis McDuffie missing a nice chunk of games to start their campaign. Their point guard Landry Shammet is returning to his usual self, and the Shockers have two, maybe three cracks at Cincinnati to get themselves into a top-three seed. Greg Marshall is one of the most intense and top in-game coaches in all of College basketball and even has his own private jet — no really, he does.
Nevada is a squad who’s capable of playing with anyone in the nation and their head coach Eric Musselman can coach among the best. However, their top player and NBA prospect Caleb Martin appears to be lost for the season — with a brutal right foot injury. We have the Wolfpack here for now because we thought they deserved recognition for having an excellent season before Martin’s injury. But, they are free falling quickly without their star, where they’ve lost two conference games in the past few weeks. However, they righted the ship a bit this week, finishing off a season sweep over an excellent Boise State team.
