Round 5 – Pick 142

Shaun Dion-Hamilton, LB, Alabama

Another position of need that the Colts may be able to grab later in the draft is middle linebacker. This may get addressed earlier in a strong class but there is talent to be had in Day 3. One of those players in this mock is Shaun Dion-Hamilton of Alabama. Pegged as the next great Alabama linebacker, Dion-Hamilton was challenged a ton this year.

What teams saw was an average athlete who excelled in the Alabama scheme but may struggle outside of it. Two straight season-ending knee injuries could also hurt his stock. Hopefully he can workout for teams as the draft process progresses. A technician on the field, and a player Nick Saban raved about is always a smart bet, as long as his body holds up.

Round 6 – Pick 181

Brandon Parker, T, North Carolina A&T

The Colts seriously need offensive line help. Anthony Castonzo is set at the left tackle, at least for now. The right tackle spot is up for grabs. A developmental prospect with starting potential in the sixth round would be a smart choice. Brandon Parker of North Carolina A&T is that type of prospect, and this may be a round or two too low for him. After a strong performance at the Senior Bowl, teams will likely see the potential in the mammoth tackle. He will need some work but the traits are there and he has a high ceiling.

Round 7 – Pick 221

Equanimeous St. Brown, WR, Notre Dame

Chalk this pick up to, no way it happens. The draft world is already buzzing about Equanimeous St. Brown’s potential and an impressive combine may boost that stock even more. However, the position is really key here. The Colts may lose Donte Moncrief to free agency. Even if he is retained, the offense and mostly Andrew Luck would benefit from a tall receiver opposite speedster T.Y. Hilton. St. Brown is a tall, long receiver with a massive catch radius.

Quarterback play at Notre Dame cost him a ton of production last year. However when he had DeShone Kizer under center, he was a strong prospect. Indianapolis would be wise to grab a tall, red zone receiver to compliment their current star at some point in day three.
