Bracketology: West Region

(1) Michigan St. Big 10 vs. (16) Winthrop Big South

(2) Kansas vs. (15) UC Santa Barbara Big West

(3) Gonzaga West Coast vs. (14) Montana Big Sky

(4) Nevada Mountain West vs. (13)  South Dakota St. Summit

(5) UCLA  vs. (12) New Mexico St. WAC

(6) Houston vs. (11)  Florida St.

(7) Middle Tennessee C-USA vs. (10) Louisville

(8)Creighton vs. (9) Texas A&M

The South Dakota St. Jackrabbits are a squad who have played tough against high-level competition — including wins over Ole Miss and Iowa. They nearly pulled a “shocker” over Wichita St. in the hostile environment of Koch Arena. Led by Mike Daum — 24 points per game, 41 percent from 3, 85 percent from the free-throw line, and 10 rebounds per game, the Jackrabbits could be a real Cinderella team.

WAC powerhouse and NCAA mainstay will look to get back to the NCAA tournament after missing it in 2017. This current roster may be the deepest and most dangerous one they’ve had to date — with Zach Lofton leading the charge averaging over 20 points per contest. The WAC is a much-improved league this season so that the Aggies will be battle-tested come postseason play — if they can earn that automatic bid into the NCAA tournament, look out.
