Wide Receiver

The biggest position group the Jaguars have to address is wide receiver. They stand to lose two of their better wide receivers in free agency in Allen Robinson and Marqise Lee. Sure, both could be back, but it only serves the Jaguars to be tremendously active in the deep wide receiver market this spring.

Lee has been better the last two years in Nathaniel Hackett’s offense. While he was looking like a bust his first two years in the league, Lee emerged as a solid No. 2 to No. 3 receiver on a playoff caliber team. There is still room for improvement in his game. Keep in mind that he was a superstar collegiately with the USC Trojans.

Robinson’s free agency is one of the most intriguing in 2018. When healthy, he is a top-10 wideout in football. However, he missed all but one game in 2017 with a torn ACL. Jacksonville won without him, but understands he is one of their five best players on this team. Being injured in a contract year could cost him money. However, the Jaguars might consider using the franchise tag on him instead of giving him a multi-year deal coming off an injury.

Should the Jaguars let Robinson walk, they might look at Jarvis Landry of the Miami Dolphins or Sammy Watkins of the Los Angeles Rams. Drafting a wide receiver at the end of the first round could be in play. That being said, this is not a great wide receiving class in this upcoming draft. This is the one position group Jacksonville cannot mess up this spring.
