Round 3 – Pick 86

Levi Wallace, CB, Alabama

Wallace hasn’t gotten the attention from the national media, mostly because he spent most of the season (and his college career) playing second fiddle to Mincah Fitzpatrick, a probable top-10 overall pick. However, Wallace projects to be drafted sometime in the second night of the NFL Draft, and the Chiefs can use him.

Although Veach has already bolstered the secondary with Kendall Fuller and David Emerson, there is still an open spot on the depth chart with Kenneth Acker, Darrelle Revis and Phillip Gaines all leaving via free agency. Wallace could fit in as nice depth who plays on dime packages, something defensive coordinator Bob Sutton employs a ton of.

Wallace is smaller in size, standing 6-feet and 183 pounds. Kansas City plays plenty of man coverage, something Wallace should be comfortable with considering his time at Alabama. His ball skills are also solid, notching three interceptions last year.

The Chiefs are going to be looking for developmental talent on the defensive side of the ball this offseason, and Wallace would fit that plan.
