1. Detroit Lions

Last but not least, the Detroit Lions could provide the absolute-perfect fit for Malcolm Butler as he prepares to leave his New England Patriots days behind him. What better way to make a splash than to jump ship with the defensive coach that just left the Patriots, too?

Former Patriots defensive coordinator Matt Patricia just took over the job as the Lions head coach (officially, unlike the whole Josh McDaniels/Indianapolis Colts situation). While it may seem obvious, Patricia obviously knows how to use Butler properly, as was evident in Butler’s time in Patricia’s defense in Foxboro.

Obviously, if Patricia had his way, Butler would have been on the field during Super Bowl 52. Obviously, that could’ve helped lighten the blow Patricia’s defense took while they gave up 41 points to the Philadelphia Eagles. And, obviously, Patricia would love to have Butler as a familiar face in his defense as he transitions to life in Detroit.

The Lions are always just about there when it comes to their work in the NFC North, and now is as good as a time as ever to try and make a serious push for the postseason. Matthew Stafford can hold things down on offense if the team can provide him with some options, but they could use some help on defense to stop the Minnesota Vikings twice a year.

Butler could be the perfect fit for the Lions and Patricia, and could become a true superstar if he helps to bring the Lions back to the postseason.
