2018 NFL Mock Draft: Browns land Baker Mayfield
By Conor Dorney
After missing the playoffs in heartbreaking fashion, the Ravens will look to re-tool on offense and Oklahoma State wide receiver James Washington would be a perfect fit for the club with the sixteenth overall pick.
The Ravens enjoyed some unexpected production at running back in 2017 from Seahawks practice squad castaway Alex Collins, who figures to be a big part of the team’s 2018 rushing attack. But with Mike Wallace and Mike Campanaro scheduled to hit free agency, wide receiver could be an area of focus for the 2018 Draft.
Joe Flacco is coming off a disappointing season and I could see Baltimore looking into a long-term quarterback project but for now, the club can opt to surround him with playmakers and Washington is a great start. The former Cowboy tallied over 1,000 yards and 10+ touchdowns in each of his final three seasons at Oklahoma State and figures to be one of the first few receivers off the board.
Washington most recently put his outstanding speed and home-run threat ability on display in Mobile at the Senior Bowl, helping to aid his draft stock. While he struggles with physicality at the line of scrimmage, I love Washington’s short-area quickness and ability to make adjustments when tracking the ball through the air.
If the Ravens add to the offensive line through free agency, expect this draft to be heavy at the skill positions, particularly early on, in the hopes of returning to the postseason in 2018.
