50. . RB. LSU. Derrius Guice. 20. player

The struggles of the Detroit Lions’ running game over the past several seasons are well-documented and in this scenario, they choose to add to the position by selecting LSU’s ultra-talented Derrius Guice with their first-round pick.

GM Bob Quinn has already made it clear that adding a running back is a major priority for the team headin into next season and what better way to address the position of need with the next-best bet at running back after Penn State’s Saquon Barkley.

Guice sat behind last year’s fourth overall pick Leonard Fournette but made a name for himself as the lead back in Baton Rouge in 2017. He has great size and a solid build for the position, and consistently proves himself to be one of the most difficult backs to tackle in the entire class. Guice runs with a vengeance and managed to turn a lot of nothing into something behind an injury-riddled Tigers offensive line.

Truth be told, I personally prefer Guice over Saquon Barkley in the long term. The depth of this running backs class is impressive but adding Guice with the 20th-overall pick would be a great get for Quinn and new head coach Matt Patricia as they look to revitalize the ground game in Detroit.
