Penn State. Saquon Barkley. 3. player. 46. . RB

It’s rare that a player is ever viewed as a consensus “can’t-miss prospect” coming out of college, but Penn State running back Saquon Barkley may be as close to that as we’ll see in some time. Barkley rushed for nearly 4,000 yards and amassed 43 rushing touchdowns in his three-year career with the Nittany Lions, and is more than likely to hear his name called within the first five picks on draft day.

The Colts seem to be optimistic about the return of franchise quarterback Andrew Luck, and if he is able to play next season, adding a rare talent like Barkley could go a long way in protecting him. Barkley is one of the most physically-gifted players at the running back position in quite some time and has video game like strength and agility. Not only that, but Barkley has routinely earned praise for his leadership in the locker room, something that would be vital for a rebuilding team like the Colts.

New head coach Frank Reich, fresh off serving as the offensive coordinator for the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles, would love nothing more than to add a player like Barkley to his backfield. Indianapolis finished 28th in the league in rush yards per attempt (3.7) last season, so Barkley would certainly go a long ways toward improving those numbers.
