4. Arizona Cardinals

Carson Palmer retired, and Drew Stanton and Blaine Gabbert will both be free agents, so the Cardinals will have no quarterback under contract for 2018 when the offseason starts. Free agency, the trade market and the draft (or some combination) are all viable avenues to address the need, and Arizona will be entrenched in the quarterback market.

The Cardinals don’t have a lot of cap space ($22.7 million), but some moves can be made to add some. A run at Kirk Cousins seems unlikely then, based on what the market will bear after the contract Jimmy Garoppolo got, but a free agent like Keenum would be in play at a more reasonable price on a multi-year deal.

Keenum’s success was at least partially a function of the talent around him and a good offensive coordinator last season, and it would be hard to replicate that anywhere. But there is some skill position talent around in Arizona, and if Larry Fitzgerald comes back a legit No. 1 wide receiver is in place. Offensive coordinator Mike McCoy can absolutely find a way to get the most from a quarterback, and Keenum could capture some magic again in an entirely new situation.
