The final word on NBA All-Star Weekend (just kidding there will be many more words)

NBA All-Star weekend lived up to the hype for the most part. There was  a reasonably satisfying dunk contest, a scintillating performance in the Three Point Shootout, and an All-Star game that featured some actual hustle, offensive plays and half-court traps!

So with the new format delivering as hoped, surely we at Fastbreak Breakfast are satisfied and want to pat Commissioner Silver on the back for a job well done right? Well, not exactly. So on a brand new episode we do revel in the many moments we enjoyed and also dig into the following topics:

  • What was it about the Rising Stars Challenge that may have unearthed repressed feelings Sixers fans might be dealing with?
  • Did people overreact to the Fergie national anthem? Were the players cracking up about the rendition or just cracking up about Draymond Green cracking up?
  • How many wrong decision had to be made in succession for us to end up with whatever that Rob Riggle/Kevin Hart pre-game sketch was?
  • Were casual fans supposed to be able to tell Team Stephen and Team LeBron apart when either of those players weren’t on the floor? Black and white jerseys lacking team names and TNT’s colorless scoreboard chyron were certainly useless in that regard
  • CONSPIRACY: Was Donovan Mitchell winning the Dunk Contest pre-ordained as part of a scripted narrative?

And finally, we also covered important NBA questions such as:

  • If Gregg Popovich coached a team comprised entirely of top G-League players, what seed would they be in the Western Conference?
  • Do the Grizzlies have an ace up their sleeve in the tanking race?
