1. Get a quality running mate for Jarrad Davis

How many years in a row can we put “LB” in the “needs” category for the Lions? Once again, Detroit could use a boost to its front seven even after appearing to hit on Davis in last year’s draft.

The Lions finished 28th in run defense DVOA in part because of inconsistent linebacker play. Detroit doesn’t have the biggest defensive line on the edges, but they have plenty of beef up the middle, which theoretically should make life easier for the linebackers. But Tahir Whitehead and Paul Worrilow aren’t going to make enough plays to be impactful.

Without a quality player-in-waiting, the Lions must search for answers which could lead them to guys like Rashaan Evans out of Alabama in the first round or Boise State’s Leighton Vader Esch in the second.
