Round 6, Pick 186

Dorian O’Daniel, LB, Clemson

This late in the draft, the goal is to take flyers and find special teams contributors. Scouts consider O’Daniel one of the best, if not the best, special teams players in the draft. At 6-foot-1 and 205 pounds, O’Daniel isn’t big enough to be a linebacker in the NFL or athletic enough to be a safety, which relegates him to special teams only duty.

In a pinch, O’Daniel could be a sub-package linebacker, but if he’s playing there will have been a rash of injuries. That said, he’s a destructive force on special teams and there’s more value there than most fans realize.

Round 6, Pick 207

Desmond Harrison, OT,  West Georgia

Speaking of flyers, here’s where the Packers could take one. Harrison took a circuitous route to the NFL with stops in junior college and West Georgia sandwiching a stint at Texas.

Landing with the longhorns speaks to his athletic talent. Guys 6-foot-6 and 290 pounds should not be able to move like Harrison, but he’s a raw blocker and his history will worry teams. This late though, the Packers would basically be locking down camp invites more than anything and getting him in camp will give Green Bay the best view of what he is, and perhaps more importantly, who he is.
