Green Bay Packers: 5 offseason needs
By Brad Weiss
1. Finally make the cornerback position a strength
During the NFC Championship Game after the 2016 NFL season, the Green Bay Packers secondary was shredded by the Atlanta Falcons. In 2017, the team still struggled to play consistent football against the passing game, and it should be their main focus heading into next season. They have some good young talent in the unit when it comes to the cornerback position, but they may end up spending a first round pick to make it a strength this season.
Damarious Randall is a solid player, and he seems to get better every season. He has intercepted at least three passes in each of his first three seasons, including a career-high four last year. If Kevin King can be healthy for a full slate next season, they could have two good young cornerbacks, but that is a big if. Even with King, the Packers need to bring in at least one more cornerback, and the draft could be the way to go.

The team spent a second round pick on King in 2017, and the feeling is there will be no repercussions from his shoulder injury last season. In 2018, guys like Josh Jackson from Iowa and Carlton Davis from Auburn could be available to them in the middle of the first round. If not, look for the team to possibly go the free agency route, with players like Malcolm Butler and Trumaine Johnson set to test the market.
