No. 3 Seeds

9.   Ohio State (East-Boston) (24-7)

10.  Cincinnati (South-Atlanta) (25-4)

11.  Gonzaga (Midwest-Omaha) (27-4)

12.  Clemson (West-Los Angeles) (21-7)

One team on the rise is Gonzaga, the West Coast Conference tournament starts this week and per usual, the Gonzaga Bulldogs are the favorites. After an impressive win on the road at BYU this past Saturday, I would be stunned to see Gonzaga struggle in this tournament as they are playing some of their best basketball at the right time of the year.

Texas Tech’s sudden fade from the three seed line and out for the top 16 has given way to teams like Cincinnati and Ohio State who could very well move their way up the seeding ladder with good showings this week.

Next Sunday could see each team potentially make a case for a spot on the two seed line. Cincinnati travels to Wichita State for a shot at clinching a share of the conference title and Ohio State could potentially play in the Big Ten championship final later on in the afternoon.

The odd team out in this foursome is Clemson who I still have in the top 16 this past week, even with a loss to Virginia Tech I will keep Clemson in the rankings this week but that could change quickly with a hungry Florida State coming into town on Wednesday.

Games of note this week

Feb. 28

Florida State at Clemson

Clemson is in desperate need of a quadrant one win. This is the first of two opportunities to end the season.

Mar. 3

Clemson at Syracuse

A new opponent for Clemson, same situation as Florida State. Only this time, they may be pushing Syracuse closer to the bubble line.

West Coast Conference Quarterfinal: TBD vs. Gonzaga

Congrats to Gonzaga for winning the WCC Tournament. What? You were thinking it too.

Mar. 4

Cincinnati at Wichita State

Cincinnati hasn’t been to Wichita since 1981, unlike that game there will be a conference title on the line.
