4. Bolster the cornerback position

The Minnesota Vikings defense was one of the best in the NFL last season, and they got some solid play out of their secondary. However, the aging Terence Newman spent way too much time on the field for someone his age, and they should look to add some depth behind star corner Xavier Rhodes this offseason. They can go into the season with what they have currently on the roster, but adding a couple more bodies could make this unit elite once again in 2018.

When all was said and done, the Vikings actually finished the season with the best pass defense in the entire NFL. With Newman heading into free agency unrestricted, the Vikings need to make sure they either retain him for another season, or find his replacement. The trio of Trae Waynes, Mackensie Alexander, and Rhodes is very solid, but the team may look to the draft to bring in someone who can serve in that third cornerback role.

In 2018, the Green Bay Packers should be back at full force, as Aaron Rodgers is expected to be 100 percent healthy for the start of the season. The Vikings know that in order to continue their dominance in the NFC North, they will have to have enough talent in the defensive backfield to stop Rodgers twice per season. Making the cornerback position a priority this offseason is only  going to help this team moving forward, as they look to take the next step in their team development next season.
