MVC Arch Madness Predictions

Expect the unexpected. Even though Wichita State was dominant up until their departure, they only won the MVC tournament twice. So, expect Loyola to get everyone’s best shot. Their path to victory will not be easy.

Sleeper team: Missouri State

The Bears were picked MVC pre-season favorites for a reason, and they still have the talent to make a run during Arch Madness. But, history is not on their side, with a seven-seed never making it past the semi-finals. The double-double machine Alize Johnson will be a man on a mission and head coach Paul Lusk has nothing to lose since he’s on his way out of Springfield Missouri.

Predictions:

Play-in-round:

(7) Missouri State over (10) Valparaiso

(9) Northern Iowa over (8) Evansville

Quarterfinals

(1) Loyola over (9) Northern Iowa

(7) Missouri State over (2) Southern Illinois

(4) Drake over (5) Bradley

(6) Indiana State over (3) Illinois State

Semi-finals

(1) Loyola over (4) Drake

(7) Missouri State over (6) Indiana State

MVC Arch Madness Championship

(1) Loyola over (7) Missouri State

The MVC Championship game will broadcast live on CBS at 1:00 p.m EST on Sunday, March 4.

Much like the MVC pre-season predictions, ours will likely be way off base — but this part of the fun, right? Arch Madness is always tons of fun, and I look forward to attending the event for the seventh time, an annual NCAA College basketball tradition for me.
