Round 3 – Pick 94

Quenton Meeks, CB, Stanford

A team as complete as the Vikings is hard to draft for. There simply are not glaring holes that are begging to be addressed. Chalk that up to great drafting and a strong front office to put this team together. A small area that can be highlighted would be corner.

Terance Newman played a lot of snaps for someone that will be 40 by midseason. Xavier Rhodes on the other side is a lock down player. Former first-round pick Trae Waynes is still around but has not panned out as the team expected. Minnesota will enter 2018, as of now, with only three corners under contract. This is a spot the team could look at in round three.

A smart value for a team that is ready to compete is Quenton Meeks of Stanford. At 6-foot-2 the former Cardinal has ideal size and length for the position. He is a tactician at the corner spot, with excellent hands and ball skills. His big frame means he may lack the closing speed to ever be elite, but he is about as solid as it gets.

A strong combine could push Meeks up the boards. That is what happens with corners that big if they run fast. However, this is an extremely deep corner class, there will be starting caliber prospects at this point in the draft because of it.
