7. Patrick Chan for Team Canada

This was Patrick Chan’s final Olympics. The three-time World Champion and 2014 Olympic Silver medalist showed everyone how great a veteran can be with his stunning free skate in the team event, helping Canada achieve the team gold medal, earning a critical 18 points for his home country.

Although Chan was unable to repeat the accomplishment in the men’s individual program, falling in the short, and finishing in ninth place. Chan is retiring from competition, but he leaves the sport an illustrious icon in figure skating. His team free skate illustrated that he’s still among the best in the sport and his fight for gold for Team Canada allowed the figure skating legend to leave competitive figure skating with an indelible performance.

“I’m so proud that I was able to stick in it this long,” said Chan, after his final performance on Saturday in Pyeongchang according to The Star. “I’m happy that I can leave these Games with a gold medal in the team event. Now I’m looking for gold medals in other things in my life.

“I loved [skating]. It’s given me so many opportunities. It set my life up. I feel so proud to be a skater. It taught me how to be emotional with myself, more mature, more understanding with my thoughts.”
