4. New York Jets

The Jets are in good position to take one of the top quarterbacks with the sixth overall pick in April’s draft. Josh McCown may be brought back for another year, as a backup or early season starter, but the Jets are have a ton of cap space to make an aggressive move in free agency for a quarterback. There’s more than enough out there about their possible pursuit of Kirk Cousins to see it coming to fruition.

But the Jets could go somewhere between McCown and Cousins on the veteran quarterback scale, to a viable option like Bradford. Concerns about his health are prevalent and not going away, with a twice-torn left ACL and issues with the same knee wrecking his 2017 season. But the Jets could see Bradford as the guy to give them a solid backup/fill-in starter, while not blocking the progress of a rookie like Baker Mayfield or Josh Allen if they prove to be ready to play.

Bradford would probably like to find an opportunity to start somewhere next season, but he won’t be any team’s only option going into training camp. The Jets may simply put the best offer on the table when it’s all said and done, and even the last No. 1 overall pick to cash in big with his first contract would have a hard time turning that down.
