2. Arizona Cardinals

As is widely known, the Cardinals are similar to the Vikings in having no quarterbacks currently under contract for next season. But they also don’t have a great amount of salary cap space right now (a little over $22.1 million, via OvertheCap.com), and even with some moves to bolster that a credible run at someone like Kirk Cousins does not look likely.

Cardinals general manager Steve Keim recently cited the need to be able to pivot quickly as the team looks to add a free agent quarterback, from Plan A to Plan B or even Plan C as things move along. Bradford is probably not anything close to Plan A or Plan B for the Cardinals. But he is viable further down the line as a Plan C, quite possibly in a pairing with a rookie quarterback next season.

Bradford has recently come out with a confirmation his knee is structurally intact, and that he “absolutely” wants to play next season. Those two potential issues are cause for concern, but Bradford’s career earnings and what he’s been through physically invites a need to dispel them.

The Cardinals have a good team, with the big question looming at quarterback. For at least 2018, assuming health, Bradford can help shore things up with competent, to at times high level, play.
