. G/F. Boise State. Chandler Hutchison. 20. player. 86

Ideally, the Wolves are getting an immediate contributor, but the more I look at this group from 15-30, the more I worry that player does not exist. Hutchison is maybe more risky than others in this area, but he fits nicely in Minnesota.

Hutchison is shooting 35 percent from deep this year, maintaining the efficiency he developed last season while doubling his attempts. More notably, he has turned into a legitimate secondary play-maker, increasing his assist percentage and usage rate by five points each. The senior posted 19 points and five assists on Tuesday, and he continues to impact the game on a nightly basis regardless of his scoring numbers.

That type of player will be extremely valuable to the Wolves perhaps more than any other team, considering the extraordinary amount of ball-stopping scorers in Minnesota. If a young wing is going to be productive and useful playing with Andrew Wiggins and Jimmy Butler, he needs to have solid secondary skills.

For Hutchison, that will mean smart ball movement and making open shots. He just needs to make the right play and compete on defense. That’s not a lot to ask, even for a late-bloomer like Hutchison who will need to grow into a NBA role.
