Top 25 March Madness heroes of all-time
Although he flamed out in the NBA and played a lengthy career overseas, Sean May will always be known in the college ranks for leading North Carolina to the national title. He’s now working as the director of operations for the Tar Heels.
It’s hard to think that his dominance in the NCAA Tournament happened over a decade ago and his professional basketball career is over.
During the regular season of his junior year, his final with North Carolina, he averaged a double-double with over 17 points and 10 rebounds per game. The Tar Heels went into the NCAA Tournament with a No. 1 seed and 27-4 overall record, and all he did was dominate all the way to the national title game.
May upped his game in the tourney, averaging 22.3 points and 10.7 rebounds per game, including a 26-point, 10-rebound performance in the national championship against Illinois. He will be remembered by North Carolina fans for being one of the best NCAA Tournament heroes in school history.
