Round 4 – Pick 104

JC Jackson, CB, Maryland

One of the issues for the Buccaneers that stemmed from their almost historically bad pass rush was their secondary got exposed. The corners on the team were simply not able to cover that long and teams picked them apart. With Spence returning and investment in pass rush, the second should get better. They should still invest a top four pick in the secondary.

Sitting just outside the top 100 in the fourth round was JC Jackson of Maryland. This would be a great pick for a player that may be able to contribute right off the bat for this team. The former Terrapin will try to dispel notions that he lacks straight line speed at the combine.

What Tampa would get with Jackson is a player not afraid to get into receivers face. He is a strong physical corner, despite being under 6-feet. For the limitations he may have with his speed he makes up for with an aggressive approach. That approach gets him in trouble at times as he is often seen grabbing or attacking the player before the ball.

The Buccaneers could use a player like this to instill some attitude into their secondary. This unit has a former first-round pick in Vernon Hargreaves on one side. Opposite that is a mixed bag. The team would be wise to address the corner position in free agency and then add to the depth chat in the draft.
