2018 NFL Mock Draft: Josh Rosen heads to Broncos
By Brad Weiss
After suffering the worst defeat in Super Bowl history, the Atlanta Falcons figured to have a bit of a hangover in 2017. Well, they struggled a bit out of the gate, but came on strong, and was one of three NFC South teams to make the playoffs. The Falcons advanced to the Divisional Round, where they lost to the Philadelphia Eagles on the road, but they should be back in the postseason next year.
With their offense pretty much set, the team should look to draft a defensive player in the first round in April. They need help at the defensive tackle position, and they may be able to get a player like Maurice Hurst this late in round one. Hurst was viewed as a possible top-15 pick going into the Combine, but had to leave with a heart issue, which may affect his draft status.
Hurst will not fall out of the first round, and would be a nice grab this late in round one by the Falcons. They have strong edge rushers, and if they can get better in the middle, they could be the best team in a very tough division next season. Quarterback Matt Ryan has the talent to win a Super Bowl, and having a tough defensive line could make a huge difference for the team in 2018.
