2018 NFL Mock Draft: Josh Rosen heads to Broncos
By Brad Weiss
The New York Jets made some news this week, as they got rid of defensive tackle Muhammad Wilkerson. While they could certainly use some help up front on defense via the NFL Draft, picking at No. 6 is too early to go that route in this draft class. The odds are the Jets will roll the dice on a franchise quarterback, and Baker Mayfield could be available, giving them the signal-caller this franchise so desperately needs.
Mayfield has been linked to the Cleveland Browns, so he could be done by No. 6. However, he would be a nice fit in New York, as he has the star power to play under the bright lights. The Heisman Trophy winner has had to work for everything he has earned in college football, as he had to walk on twice at both Texas Tech, and Oklahoma.
The Jets saw some unexpected people step up last season, and their defense should be solid in 2018. Quarterback Josh McCown had a career-year under center, but he is way too old to be considered a franchise quarterback. McCown may stick around, and for Mayfield, he would learn a lot from the veteran, who can teach him a lot about playing the game at the NFL level.
